MAC WONDER WOMAN EYELINER REVIEW

                        mac-wonder-woman-makeup-collection-spring-11

I luuurrrvvve wonder woman, I used to watch her on the Justice League when I was a kid, the 90's version and thanks to the wonderness that is the internets( hello, Youtube) I still do. She was soo bad ass and there was one episode where she just got so angry at the bad guys and started beating the hell out of them. Don't worry, they didn't die. Batman stopped her( they had some serious chemistry going on!). So when I heard MAC were doing a collection to the most awesome female superhero(sorry, She-Ra), I was pretty excited.

Now onto the goods, well just one, good, the penultimate eyeliner, it is massive. Like a giant Sharpie! My sister says it smells like a marker, it does. So I put it on, and my reaction was eh...(kanye shrug). Is this it?.. It really isn't black enough! Why?? Let the disappointment waves rush in. It really does look like I got my black marker and drew a line with it. I also did the 'sleep test' with it as eyeliner is the makeup product I wear daily for hours on end, it failed. Not miserably though, it's just that I can not justify £17.50 on a marker, I do not care even if it has the wonder woman logo on it. In the end I had to take it back and got the mineralize skin finish in deep dark instead. We'll see how it goes.

EYEKO REVIEW

Eyeko
My first review, yaaaay!! Eyeko means LOVE in Japanese and is the brainchild of beauty innovators Max and Nina Leykind. Born in London in 2000, Eyeko has become the go-to-brand for the latest in make-up must haves. Part Brit girl, part Tokyo cutie - Eyeko offers WOW products that define sweet London style.

Anywho, I bought a red nail polish called Saucy and two graffiti eyeliners in black and purple. Eyeko always have a free gift offer when you spend over £15, so I got a free navy blue eyeliner. I like free 99. On to the eyeliners..

Swatches on arm in day light
Many youtubers and blogers rave about Eyeko products but I have a waaaay different opinion. They suck, well the eyeliners suck! Especially if you are dark skinned and by dark skinned I mean black. The eyeliners' colours do NOT show, I asked my brother if he could see the difference between the purple and the navy blue. He couldn't. He thought the navy blue was black. Fail. The swatches on my arm show because I am mixed race on various places of my body. I would not advise anyone who is dark skinned to buy the coloured versions of the eyeliner. The black one is okay, nothing to sing songs or write about and for £5.50 I think I will just stick to Rimmel London's black eyeliner.

Saucy polish, this I can rave about, this is the most amazing hot blood red, this could be the answer to my personal world's greatest red nail polish quest. It does come in a small bottle, when I saw it I like, dude I paid £5 for how many mls?? I was surprised as how good it is, no streaks and one coat can be enough. It is a to buy, it is such a lovely and rich colour ans it has good staying power, I ve been washing the dishes after supper every night and the nail polish has not chipped as much. Definitely buying Eyeko nail polishes again.

PEACOCKS 3 FOR 2

I do not usually shop in peacocks, I have one item from the store but they do really nice stuff, in the less pricey version of Dorothy Perkins/ higher than Primark but with better quality kind of way. Anywho, its a 3 for 2 on ALL products instore and online. I bought a pair of harem pants for my gym sessions because I do not wear track bottoms( the only Nike I have is my sports bra) and I walk to my gym, which is in a university ground area. It is a pretty busy place with major bus, train and underground stations, I know I do not know these people but I like to atleast look presentable. Did I mention the gym is on university grounds?
Side thought; Boots are also doing a 3 for 2 on beauty products, and Superdrug is doing a 3 for 2 on skincare products, I love it when Boots and Superdrug fight for my money.

The Hair Chronicles....Traction Alopecia.

I must confess, I have suffered from traction alopecia. Sad, I know but everyone has their flaws. The worst bit about it is I know why the hair on my temples are doing a disappearing act on me. My weave, my lovely Premuim Now full fringed weave, it the cause of this horrible calamity!

Traction alopecia is hair loss or thinning because the "tracks" of the weave, braids or any hairstyle is too tight and the scalp becomes inflammed and hair loss occurs. Inflammation of the scalp is usaully those tiny little bumps that occur after getting the hair braided and when you see little, tiny, white bulbs, those are hair follicles, it is safe to say that now would be a good time to start freaking out.

Now I have been weaving non stop for the past four years and my sides are currently in a good condition, they was a time when there was no hair whatsoever, zero, zilch, nada, cabbage patch bald! Here's what Ive learnt so far; Tell your hairdresser if your braids are too tight, make her undo the braid and do it again much loosely. How do you know if its too tight? Are you reaching for an asprin when you get home because the headache is registering 8.5 on the Richter scale?
Under NO circumstances should you ever get your hair relaxed, especially if it is in a full weave. It is a waste of money and hair is the strongest when it is natural and if you have to please stretch your relaxer.Wait atleast 2-3 months before you go for a retouch.
Shampoo and condition, many (even I) are under the impression that washing a weave ruins it, it doesnt, infact washing a weave and blow drying it will give a more natural and belieavble texture. Washing your hair whilst it is in a weave is very important, it gets rid of dirt and helps with hair growth(a clean scalp is a healthy scalp), I sometimes just slap on a conditioner for the whole day and rinse it a couple of hours later because hair is dries out really quickly and if the moisture is not replinshed it will become brittle and break, like a twig. Deep conditioning atleast once a week especially during winter(the radiators do not help either) when it is really drying for hair and skin.
Lastly an intense protein and moisture mix, this has literally saved my sides and I apply my mix every night. It is a mixture of coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, (are you seeing a trend here?)water and Megatek. This itelf requires its own post. But moisturize with a natural conditioning oil such as coconut or olive every night, I am not a fan of Pink Moisturizing Lotion or Dark and Lovely Moisturizing Lotion as they have a large amount of Mineral oil( again, its own post).

ASOS Sale

#

ASOS are having their last minute sale, most of the items on sale were 70% off and now they are adding an extra 10%, it is last few days so best time to get a good quality bargin.

Glamour and Cosmo Magazine Freebies!

Firstly why hasn't my ELLE arrived on time? I  mean it is the 4th of March already and I usually have it on my front doorstep before Glamour and Cosmopolitan hit the shelves. So it is Glamour's 10 year anniversary and they are giving out sample sizes of Clinque products. I always hear positive reviews about Clinque but since my routine( Olay SPF15 Complete Care by day and Olay Beauty Fluid by night) is working just fine I have no plans to change it, if its not broke, don't fix it. I did buy two magazines, one with the make up remover and the other had a SPF15 lipstick( Thank you to the guy at Sainsbury's for looking through their delivery boxes so that I could have the lipstick, there is hope for humanity). The free gifts if you were to collect them all are worth £80, I think its worth the buy.

Cosmo and I have a love-hate relationship, I love the affordable fashion that is always tastefully put, I hate how its all about " You need a man and 10 ways to attract him and keep him and how to have sex in a million different ways without pulling/straining a muscle". basically Cosmo is Glamour sluttier younger sister. Beyonce is on the cover, yaaaaay! n she does that cute fill in the black interview. The freebies is a misguided lip gloss, it has a really strong artificial coconut smell to it. I got the red because well, black goes with everything and I usually tend for safe options. It is worth £5.

It is as red as my nail varnish (Risky Red No.7)

Lastly both magazine came with a New Look booklet, that showed the upcoming spring collection. I like these because you can always plan in ahead of what and how much money you are going to spend when you go shopping. And the best bit is, at the back there is a 20% discount voucher that you have to fill in. And it expires on the 10th of April so there is quite a good amount of time.

London Fashion

London Fashion Week, oh how I love and miss you. I know a lot of bloggers will be showing their favourite designer collections so I decided to show my favourite looks that were worn by fashion week attendees. Being a young black woman I felt that there were not a lot of black fashion icons I could follow and get inspiration from, so thanks to the power of Google I found some looks that are amazingly inspirational women.

Yoanna Pepper Okwesa

Dame just looks like she is such a trouble maker and I love it. The blond hair tied up in a bun, the rings, her make up, excuse me but could we just look at her make up. Black lipstick and heavy black eyeliner and mascara. Who is this girl? She just looks so fierce, I mean she looks at Sasha Fierce and laughs in her face.

Dame

Marian Kihugo
First thing I noticed was the lips, bright pink and I swear she is wearing Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday lipstick for MAC. Marian is soo ballsy, I feel like she took everything she thought was amazing and decided to wear it. It is just her very own and this is what fashion is about, making things your very own and not following trends to the T.
Omowunmi Wemi Akinsola
I have this outfit, I really do. My maxi dress is black, sheer lace and I wear my h and m black dress with tights underneath with my black leather jacket. Its so biker-chic, I like how the sheerness of the maxi dress makes it feminine and soft but the leather on the bag( i see you Alexander Wang) shoes and jacket make it so hard and rugged. I feel like this look would have been featured in Rihanna's Hard video.
Mercedes Benson

From one black girl to another, your hair is so on point. The colour, its so classy and still has that rude girl vibe to it. Mercedes gets two pictures in because she wore cute, black and white, monochrome in one outfit and did a complete 360 with the next. Not really having a "comfort zone" in my opinion, dressing up as it takes your fancy. Even with the make up, pink in one and black the next. How I envy those who live fashion according to their own rules. And its still winter, early springish in London and she wears colour! Colour people, colour!!

Magda Odj
Simple yet stylish, its just less in more. So much much much more here. Even with the makeup, she does an intense red lip and the rest is down to a minimum.Something my older sister would definitely wear! Luvs it.

Pics are mostly from Vogue Italia website, they have Vogue Black.
