Music Monday's.

I bought an album, yup I gave itunes £9.99 and what I got in return was 52 hip hop anthems. 52!! Am really pleased that the Ministry of Sound decided to do a hip hop anthems compilation, its about time! My favourite songs from the album are RUN DMC's Walk This Way ( the one I had was such a bad quality radio download), A Tribe Called Quest-can I kick it?, House of Pain's Jump( I listen to this every wet, sad depressing English morning when I'm getting dressed) and Dr Dre's Nothing But a G Thang(why did I not have this song?) Side note though, Flo Rida's Low is also on the album, why?? It is not an anthem!! Heck its not even really hip hop!!
Single of the week would be Kanye West's Power Remix featuring Jay Z and Swizz Beats. I love Kanye and every time he has a concert in London I am there! He does such amazing samples, he took Snap's I Got The Power in the last verse of the song and it just takes it to another level. So freaking amazing, he is a musical genuis. An egotisical musical genuis. And best of all its free 99. Download Kanye West Power Remix. Ft. Jay Z and Swizz Beats at Kanyewest.com.

I always thought D. Woods would be the one who made it after Danity Kane broke up but no, it was Dawn Diddy chose in the end. To be fair though, she does write her own songs and can sing live really, really well. She, Diddy and Kaleena( who is so talented, girl is on the next level) form Dirty Money and they released Last Train to Paris last year. I've had a couple of listens to the album and I love it, only because of Dawn and Kaleena. If it was a Diddy only album, I would have pressed the Del button, my hard drive space is scarred. Anywho, she has a new mixtape out called A Tell Tale Heart and it is like L'Oreal, worth it. Download it here at her blog

Facebook and Smiley Faces.

The most amazing thing happened to me on facebook on Monday, I got defriended and blocked by a guy Ive known since my teens. He is the son of a popular pastor and his aunt was my "godmother" when I was really young and on the right path, gosh what bloody happened? Any who, he annoys me. He says some pretty stupid shit on his facebook status, so annoying that for the past year I've had him hidden so I don't see any of his updates. I have asked other people's opinions about him and we all agree; he is a pretenious little bastard who thinks he is on the level of Einstein and has the understanding of Sigmund Freud.

So I decided, against my better judgement to go to his page because I was chatting to his best friend and his name popped up in the conversation( we went to church camp together, yes, me, church camp. Honestly, I was there for the boys.) He asked on his status what people thought about him and how would you describe him in one word. The following were his comments; God fearing, Wise, Knowledgeable, since everyone was being so honest, i wrote pretentious with a big fat :D. I thought smiley faces make things like calling someone pretentious okay. Not with this little piggy, he answered with a " hmmmmm, you think so cho cho?" , 5 mins later he comments again with " I am realer than your weave, lol!" ( Note: realer is not a word, quit making shit up, you are not the Oxford Dictionary Society). So he left his page, went to mine, looked through my pictures and decided to attack my weave. Dude, my weave is yaki! That ish is on some ninja levels. At this point I responded with "negro pls, this is all mine! :)" , again with the smiley face. He later on defriended and blocked my facebook arse.

Let me just apologise to him, just incase he reads this, dear *********  I am so sorry that my opinion of you was not to your liking. But you are a pretenious little bitch, other people on your facebook page may think that you are the cock's bollocks but that is because they are in Africa and do not have the power of Google. Well, they do, but it is a really, really, really, really slow connection and most of it is on their cellphones.I honestly thought that you would take my comment with a pinch of salt, hence the smiley faces. I did not know that it would offend you to the point of my deletion from your online social circle.

Music Monday's.

Allow me to introduce you to Mac Miller. He is a 19 year old Jewish white rapper who is crazy bout weed on the scale of Kid Cudi, a bit cheeky like Travie McCoy and samples like he is Kanye West during the College Dropout album. He is sooo good and for his age he isnt on that "look at me, I gets money" thingy (Soulja Boy, take note!). My favourite song from the K.I.D.S mixtape was Knock, Knock. Watch the video below. Download the mixtape, it is so worth the space it will take on your hard drive. He is so white boy awesome( his words, not mine!)
"Too Fake" by Big Sean feat. Chiddy Bang, whom I adore, is the single of the week. "Too Fake" is the perfect song, mainly because it has such an amazing instrumental, thanks to Xaphoon Jones of Chiddy Bang(Google them, you won't be disappointed). A five star rating and a great chorus to go with it. The song is from Big Sean's mixtape Finally Famous Vol 3. Another mixtape that is worth its MB's. Cant wait for his album to drop later on this year.

Dope ish.

                                                                   dope, just dope.

The Hair Chronicles....The Beginning.

My hair is something I never really spent much time to think about, my earliest memory of my hair is me asking my mother why I couldnt have Vanessa on Egoli's hair. Vanessa was mixed race and had such a massive curly afro and I thought it was the most amazing hair ever! I really wanted that hair! But my mum said I couldnt have it, I asked her why and I cant remeber what answer she gave me.

Fast forward to 2010, me sitting in my room I started thinking, why did I  start adding relaxer to my hair? During my school years I had natural hair and I always pulled it back into thick afro ponytail. It wasnt a problem until all of a sudden my life turned into the harsh cruel bit of a mean girls movie scene. I was bullied by the class Queen Bee's. It was awful, these girls made it their life's mission to make my life feel like a big pile of poo. They used to pass horrible little remarks about me, especially my hair. This is the 11th grade and I was the only one with hair that was not relaxed, they would sit behind me on the bus and pass jokes about how "untidy my hair was, how stupid, dumb and ugly i was", the usual high school stuff only in excess. And there was this guy, my friends and I called him Shrek, because he was big, ogre-like and had a shrek-like head. He always used to join them when it came to teasing me and many times he would sit near me and randomly, out of the blue start saying things like "you are so childish"( ummm I am 15, what do you except?) and he's personally favourite "your nose is so big, and your hair is just plain ugly". And I would get this abuse everyday, I remember trying to make myself sick so that I would not have to go in to school. It didnt work, my mother was all about my education and she would not let me ever skip a day of school, so I had to take it. And for three years I took that bullshit, and when someone is in yor ear constantly whispering negative things about you, you tend to start to doubt yourself. And so a week before my graduation ceremony, I had my hair relaxed. Epic fail.

Fast forward to 14th of March, emotions and thoughts running wild and fast as Usain Bolt, I went and had the B.C. The Big Chop, everything, well an inch was left behind but everything else was gone.

And this was The Beginning.

Rastamouse.

He is a Rastafarian mouse on a mission to make "bad tings good" and he somehow has managed to start up a racism row. He is based on a book series, he is in a reggae band(how cool is that?!!) and he solves crimes(like CSI).I watch Rastamouse on BBC iPlayer with my whole family, and it is really funny. However some people do not get it, many are saying that it will encourage young children to use wrong English and bad grammar because every character in the cartoon does speak patois.

Now to all the parents saying it will influence their child's to use the word " rasta" and "irie". Firstly, let me just say that your child lives in Britain and will sooner or later be exposed to these words. Just the same way that your child will be exposed to swear words( I am sure these parents must have sworn or said a naughty word in front of their child). I am Zambian and when I came to this country, most of my peers spoke bits of patois. Everyone must have at one point used the term wagan? and don't most young people use the word ting? As a parent it is your responsibility to teach your child which type of English is acceptable and where. I know that my sister would always correct me when I spoke, and still speak incorrect English.

Lastly, heavens forbid there is anything on television that shows Afro-Caribbean in a positive manner or even shows them at all! Tell me one programme on TV, except Tinga Tales, that is mildly based on Afro-Caribbean? There is a massive Afro-Caribbean population in Britain, why should their culture and language, be side line because they are a minority? I never knew any patios, and my exposure to it was limited to Sean Paul songs! It is a lovely and nice way for young children to learn and understand the language.

P.S your white child will most probably end up with an Afro-Caribbean( this is Britain!) so if I were you concerned mother, I would watch and learn.

Lola's

It was my mother's birthday on the 3rd, so instead of doin the usual birthday cake, this year I decided to get her cupcakes instead. Unfortunatly I forgot to take pics of them all, but here is the one i had, its coconut(can u see the sparkly bit in the cream! bliss!!). Me likey. Got them from Lola's, a company that hand make all their cupcakes. There are found in Topshop Oxford Circus and in Selfridges. They are roughly £3 per cupcake and they  have so many flavours, red velvet( yummy), chocolate and carrot(to die for!). I got mine from selfridges and they pack them in cute boxes. So very lovely.
